Terms of Use & End-User Licence Agreement
These terms govern your use of the 1979 Ltd trade portal at order.1979ltd.co.uk and the purchase of products through our consumer retail store. By placing an order or using the portal, you agree to these terms.

1. Definitions
- "1979", "we", "us" — 1979 Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11234510).
- "Portal" — the website at order.1979ltd.co.uk, including the trade portal and consumer retail store.
- "Trade customer" — a salon, retailer or other business with an active account on the portal.
- "Consumer" — an individual purchasing products at retail prices through a trade customer's referral link.
- "Referral link" — a unique link issued to a trade customer that attributes consumer retail orders to that customer for commission purposes.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using the portal, placing an order, or creating a trade account, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the portal.
3. Who may use the portal
The trade portal is available to bona fide businesses — salons, retailers and professionals in the hair-care industry — that have been approved for a trade account. Consumer retail purchases are available to any individual aged 18 or over purchasing through a trade customer's referral link.
You agree to use the portal only for lawful purposes and not to misuse it, including attempting to gain unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, or use it to transmit harmful or unlawful content.
4. Trade accounts & security
- Trade customers are issued login credentials (email and password). You are responsible for keeping these secure and for all activity under your account.
- If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account, you must notify us immediately at info@1979ltd.co.uk.
- We may suspend or terminate an account if these terms are breached or if we reasonably suspect misuse.
- Referral links are provided for your own business use. You may not share, sell or transfer your referral link to third parties.
5. Orders & pricing
- Trade prices are shown excluding VAT. VAT at the current rate is added at checkout. Trade delivery is charged at a flat rate, waived when the order subtotal exceeds the threshold shown on the portal.
- Retail (consumer) prices are shown inclusive of VAT. Consumer delivery is charged at a flat rate shown at checkout.
- All prices are subject to change. The price applicable to your order is that shown at the point of checkout.
- We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order. If we do so after payment has been taken, we will refund you in full.
- Some products are sold as configurable bundles. The price of a configurable bundle depends on the items you select, as shown on the portal.
6. Consumer retail orders
Consumers may purchase products at retail prices through a trade customer's referral link. 1979 Ltd is the merchant of record for all consumer retail orders — we receive the payment, fulfil the order and are responsible for it. The referring salon is attributed for commission purposes but is not the seller.
By placing a consumer order you confirm that the delivery details you provide are accurate and that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
7. Referral & commission
- When a consumer places a retail order via a trade customer's referral link, the trade customer earns commission at the prevailing rate (currently 25% of the retail sale), subject to the order being completed and paid.
- Commission is calculated and paid in accordance with our then-current commission terms. Commission is not payable on orders that are refunded, cancelled or not paid for.
- If a trade customer ceases to trade with 1979 — for example, by closing their account or no longer being an active partner — no further commission is due on retail orders placed after that point, and 1979 Ltd retains the full retail proceeds. We may market directly to consumers in accordance with their marketing consent, regardless of the status of the referring salon.
Direct sales. Where 1979 Ltd fulfils and sells directly to a consumer without an active salon referral, no commission is payable and 1979 Ltd retains the full sale value.
8. Payment
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details. By placing an order you authorise us to charge the payment method you provide via Stripe for the total amount shown at checkout.
9. Delivery
- We deliver to addresses within the United Kingdom. Delivery charges are shown at checkout.
- Estimated delivery times are given in good faith but are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays outside our reasonable control.
- Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. You should check your order on arrival and report any issues promptly.
10. Returns & refunds
If you are a consumer, you may have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. To cancel or return an order, contact us at info@1979ltd.co.uk as soon as possible. Refunds are made to the original payment method within a reasonable period.
Trade customers should contact us regarding any issues with an order; returns for trade customers are handled in accordance with our trade account terms.
11. Intellectual property
The portal, its design, content, branding and product information are owned by 1979 Ltd or our suppliers and are protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce or distribute portal content without our permission, except as necessary to place and receive orders.
12. Limitation of liability
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to your use of the portal or any order is limited to the amount you paid us for the relevant order.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profit or business interruption.
- The portal is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
13. Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which they reside if they so choose.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. Continued use of the portal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
